I started this blog almost two years ago and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I’ve loved researching new season trends and sharing my outfit ideas for working mums. I’ve learnt so many new skills through setting up and maintaining the technical side of the blog. I’ve got to work with some great fashion brands and I’ve made lots of new friends too – both online and in real life.
But this year it’s been a massive struggle to keep it all up. I just can’t produce regular blog posts and commit the time required to keep the blog going.
Life has changed and I’ve had to make some decisions about my work-life-blog balance. With one of my sons now at school, I’ve had to readjust my working hours and this means less time for blogging. At first I was unwilling to accept the fact. But this is MY thing. This is fun and interesting and it’s my one creative hobby! But then I realised that there will be time in the future when I have more time to pursue it. Now is not the time.
I need to be realistic this year. Mr 4 and Mr 5 need me a lot. They need me to be focussed and calm and present. The work-life-blog juggle was starting to cause more stress than fun so the time is right to take a break.
I will still be on Instagram (@beachstylemum) sharing outfit ideas regularly so please pop over and follow along if you’d like. I’m calling it a “blogging break” as I may be back in 2017. With both kids in school next year, I may be able to adjust the juggle and find more time for the blog.
Thank you for reading, commenting and following Beachstylemum. Look forward to seeing you over on Instagram.

Over Christmas and New Year I took a two week break from work and a three week break from blogging and social media. When I wasn’t colouring in, playing at the beach or auditing toys, I spent some time thinking about the year ahead.
This year our eldest little lord (LL1) starts school. Won’t life be easier when they start school I thought three years ago when I was going through the torturous toilet training days. Alas no, I don’t think life is going to be easier at all this year.Read more link text
If you go to the beach or the pool a lot with your kids, chances are you go through a lot of rashvests. Last summer my boys went through three rashies each.
Rashies are fantastic for sun protection during summer however I often face the following issues:
- My boys get cold in them after a swim
- They get too hot in them if they wear them in the car on the way to the beach
- They perish quite quickly from swimming in chlorine pools
Two weeks ago I had one of the best holidays ever. For my dad’s 70th we (my parents, my sisters, our husbands and kids) all went to Charlotte Pass in the NSW ski fields for a week. There were 12 of us together and we had such an amazing time. I won’t go into all the details of the powder, the slopes, the bar and the 3 course dinners (yep it was epic). Instead I thought I would share some tips on doing a ski holiday with young kids.Read more link text
On Wednesdays I normally share outfit ideas, trends or general style updates. This week is going to be different. I thought I might mix things up and provide a little insight into life in my world at the moment. My friend Vanessa from Style and Shenanigans did this same list a few weeks ago and I thought it was a great way to record what's been happening and what's important to me in 2015. These prompts are such a fun way to do it!
Making: Ninja balls. Flour inside 4 balloons. I’ve made a few over the past week. Quite the popular mum at the moment. Search “how to make ninja balls” on YouTube if you’re interested.
Cooking: Roasts in the slowcooker, banana bread and soup
Drinking: Tea and red wine. Also researching gluten free beers for summer. Recommendations welcomed.
Reading: Queen of the Tearling. I’m up to book 2. It’s a bit game of thrones, a bit hunger games and a bit Outlander. Loving it.
Wanting: These New Balance sneakers but I’m doing No Buy July :(
Looking: Forward to our garden reno being complete.
Playing: On the sand mountain which will be the trampoline spot (part of our garden reno). I watched. They played. I swept up sand for a week.
Wearing: My new mint coat whenever I get a chance!
Deciding: Which colour to use next! Loving my new hobby. And yes it goes well with champagne on a Friday night.
Wishing: Summer would be here sooner.
Enjoying: Seeing Mr 5 getting excited about going to school next year.
Waiting: For snow!! The countdown to our ski trip is on – 18 days to go. So excited that my family is all going to the snow together to celebrate my dad’s 70th and my sister's 40th. They’ll be 12 of us and I’ll get to ski with my two sisters for the first time since 1994 :)
Liking: This time with my two boys before they start school. They drive me nuts everyday but this time feels special with us all together.
Wondering: How my 3.5 year old will go at ski school when the temperature is -2.
Loving: Life with boys. I grew up with only sisters so watching my boys go through their childhood is different but awesome.
Pondering: A few more mini holidays before the end of the year – south coast and Noosa are on the wishlist.
Considering: Getting a puppy.
Watching: Game of Thrones, Suits, True Detective, Masterchef.
Hoping: That Mr 3.5 will cope ok without his big bro at kindy next year.
Marvelling: At how good my kids’ memories are!! Nothing gets past those monkeys.
Needing: More catchups with friends. It takes ages to arrange a date and then of course a child gets sick.
Smelling: My best friend’s 6 month old baby girl whenever I can.
Following: The Problogger updates on Facebook – looking forward to my first blogging conference in August.
Noticing: I need a haircut.
Knowing: I’ll have to deal with it for two more weeks.
Thinking: About next year and how best to manage the school and preschool juggle while working 3 days a week. And then school holidays too...
Feeling: A bit sore from Saturday’s netball game.
Admiring: Those female sportswoman who play for their country but still have to work full time jobs to get by! Ridiculous.
Sorting: Ski gear for the family. Thermals, goggles, mittens (because the gloves were too hard for the little fingers), socks, pants, jackets, après boots. The list is ENDLESS.
Buying: No new clothes in July (No Buy July). I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.
Getting: A wee bit nervous about the Problogger conference!
Bookmarking: Blogging conference tips!! I have too many articles, emails and posts to read. How to network, what to wear, what to pack!!
Disliking: Computer viruses (yep it happened, I opened a dodgy email, all my files got encrypted, I lost the lot). Two words: BACK UP.
Opening: A package containing two new tropical cushions for our lounge from Temple and Webster. I bought them back in June I promise.
Giggling: At Mr 3.5 and his naked dances, Spiderman impersonations and bunk bed acrobatics. Oh and the coffee I got this morning. Apparently my name is Windy.
So what does life look like for you at the moment? What are you enjoying, reading and noticing? :)Read more link text
