Blush. Nude. Neutral. Beige. Flesh. You’ve probably seen these tones around and if you’re like me, you might have dismissed them with the thought “those look a bit boring”. I love black and white for basics but that tone didn’t excite me much.
Then I saw an Ezibuy catalogue (yes I do love a catalogue in my mailbox) with lots of fresh and summery ideas including the combination of white pants and a flowy blush toned top. It could be dressed up or down and the top could be worn out or tucked in. Options galore – I was IN.
I bought the Grace Hill cross back tank in blush and I’ve loved trying this new combo with white denim in particular. The contrast of the flowy viscose top against the denim works really well. It also helps that my new summer wedges are a similar blush tone.
I’ve found this to be a really handy outfit for semi-special occasions. The other night I had a Christmas dinner for work at a waterfront restaurant. I didn’t feel the need to wear a dress so this outfit worked well in that I felt a bit dressy but still quite comfy and let me tell you – those bench seats were tres easy to negotiate in jeans rather than a dress or skirt
It wasn’t an overly warm night so I took a black blazer and wore it later in the evening.
This blazer is from Atmos&Here at The Iconic. It’s a few years old but you can find a similar one here. If you’re looking for an inexpensive pair of white jeans to try out, Cotton On have a seriously good range. If you’d like some more inspiration, check out my recent post How to wear white jeans.
I’m planning to wear my blush top with chambray shorts for a more casual look and also with black pants for work or another dressy occasion.
Have you had any semi-special occasions lately when you have chosen jeans over a dress? Have you tried the blush plus white denim combo?
