Last week I was doing a very brief session of Christmas shopping in Kmart at 8.30am (I am an avid crowd avoider). I managed to tick off all the items on my list, proceeded to the self checkout, gathered my bags and headed towards the carpark.
Then I saw Sportsgirl.
Ooooo look at those pretty colours I thought.
Ooooo they’ve just opened so it’s nice and quiet I thought.
I’m sure I’ve got 10 minutes to spare because I was so efficient in Kmart I thought.
Suddenly I was inside looking at clothes for myself. I don’t have any teenage daughters or nieces to buy for. I don’t even have my sisters in the family kris kringle arrangement. There was no need for me to be in Sportsgirl at this time of year!! But I couldn’t help it.
Within two minutes I found the skirt of my dreams – mid calf length, floaty cobalt fabric, elastic waist and pockets!! I found a fun pineapple print singlet top on sale and I found a new nail polish. Skirt and top were tried on and I was sold. One of my favourite colour combinations in summer is blue and white. So fresh, so crisp, so pretty. I even managed to wear the skirt to a work Christmas lunch the very next day.
Wearing Chloe midi skirt by Sportsgirl, top by Bonds, wedges by Therapy Shoes and necklace by Colette Hayman.
This skirt is the ultimate smart or casual piece. I felt quite dressed up once I had the wedges and statement necklace on. I then tried it with my new pineapple top and some slides for a fun summery casual look. Being able to dress up or down a piece of clothing is pretty much the top priority for me these days (perhaps a close second to comfort!).
I seem to have a fair bit of success whenever I go into a Sportsgirl store. A lot of the festival inspired, crop top styles are not for me but there’s always something that catches my eye. Their sizing also works for me. I bought the size 8 skirt and I’m 163cm tall. And don’t get me started on their nail polishes and lipsticks. Best ever.
Do you have a store that you always have luck in? Bought any presents for yourself lately?
