Yesterday it got to 29 degrees in Sydney. That is seriously warm for September. I was working from home so I found myself with the perfect opportunity to wear my new striped T-shirt dress. Why was I so prepared for this warm spell you may ask?
A few weeks ago I was reviewing and rearranging my summer clothes when I came across an old navy T-shirt dress. I remembered how much I love T-shirt dresses – so easy and so cool. But this one was not in a good state! Faded and a bit out of shape, it was time to upgrade.
I found the Easy Tee Dress on Sportsgirl’s online store so I bought two – one striped and one in grey. I highly recommend doing a Spring wardrobe review and cull now so you can identify the things you need. And if you find something you know you love and will wear often, sometimes going with two colours or patterns is a great option.
Today I thought I’d share how I’m planning to wear my striped T-shirt dress over the coming months.
OPTION 1: Dress plus sweater
OPTION 2: Dress plus blazer
This outfit is more dressy and could probably be worn to work if your workplace is smart casual. The blazer is perfect for those Spring days when you need an extra layer. This one is the Everyday Blazer by Bird Keepers*. The white is sold out but there are other colours in this style. My shoes are from Wittner (last season) and I seriously cannot live without them!
OPTION 3: Dress plus denim jacket
A fun, casual outfit and the combination of striped and denim always works well. Add a statement necklace and some sneakers for colour.
OPTION 4: Dress plus skirt
Have a bit of print clash fun by wearing the striped dress as a top with a colourful printed skirt. Again, this could even be work appropriate! My skirt is from Gorman (last year) and shoes are current season from Urban Soul at Myer.
There are a lot of T-shirt dresses around. Check out Sportsgirl, Target, Kmart, Seed and Cotton On and I’m sure you’ll find the style that’s right for you. A slip can be worn underneath for a smoother finish and they also work well on really hot days by preventing the sweat from clinging all over the Tshirt dress. Handy.
