It’s time to talk about Melbourne Cup. And while we’re at it – Christmas. If you’re in the fortunate position of requiring a fabulous new frock for a races event this Spring, it’s really worth choosing something you can wear again over the Christmas period. Whether that’s to a work Christmas party, special Christmas ladies lunch or Christmas Day itself, investing in a gorgeous dress now means you can wear it again a few months later! What more justification is required!!
Besides the regular Melbourne Cup boardroom champagne and crackers, I have not been to a races event since the Snake Gully Cup in downtown Gundagai in 2001. This year, I am going to TWO spring racing events!!! Like proper events. Not sandwiches with other mums while our kids wear funny hats. The real deal. So I am deep in dress research which makes today’s moodboard very much reflective of the colours and prints I’m drawn to myself.
I’m looking for a dress. I would prefer to spend a little bit more on a fabulous frock that doesn’t require too much expenditure on new accessories. I’m hoping I can wear it with my nude heels and perhaps I’ll pop to Target for a hat / headpiece. So the dress is the focus. Something colourful, bright, flattering and comfortable is the ultimate goal and I’m pretty sure these 10 dresses will tick all the boxes.

I definitely have my eye on number 5 but my secret back-up strategy is number 2. Purchased by my sister last week for a wedding she is attending in October. I may be able to borrow it if I play my cards right. Stay tuned.
Do you have any special occasions to attend in Spring? Which of these would you choose?
