I’ve steered clear of white jeans for a long time. During my twenties I didn’t think I could wear them. Sadly I thought my thighs were not conducive to white denim. I wish I could jump back in time and tell myself to stop being ridiculous! Then since I’ve had my sons I haven’t regarded white jeans as very practical. If there’s not mud or paint on their hands, I’m guaranteed to come into contact with strawberry goo or banana residue.
Lately however, I’ve been loving the idea of white jeans for Spring. Such a fresh look that goes with pretty much everything and can be dressed up or down. I work from home one to two days a week so I often find myself in a delightful dirt free zone for about six hours a day! The stars have aligned. My white jeans journey needed to begin.
Step 1: Choosing the right pair
Work out the features that are important to you and that you prefer in a pair of jeans. The following features were the things I was looking for in a pair of white jeans:
- High waisted (aint nobody got time for exposed skin and undie gaps)
- Firm fitting, skinny style but not painted on!
- Slightly distressed (for something different)
Two weeks after No Buy July ended (yes I made it through), I stumbled across the Bohemian Traders sale and found my perfect pair of white jeans at a bargain price. Here’s a close up of the waist and fit.
I think they might be sold out now but you can find others such as:

Step 2: White jeans plus a long vest
You don’t have to jump right in and wear white jeans with a crop top (although please do so if that’s the outfit that makes you feel good). If you feel you need some extra coverage, there are so many great longer tops, tunics and vests out there and chances are, they go with white! Adding a heel is also a great way to improve the flattering factor and lengthen your legs. I’ve cuffed the jeans twice for this outfit as they were a little too bulky to tuck into my ankle boots.
Step 3: Dress them up
Get more wear out of your white jeans by dressing them up with a blazer and heels. I’ve continued with the longer top strategy and have left my shirt out but you could tuck it in or even half tuck it for a funky look.

Step 4: Keep it fun and casual
White jeans are a perfect match with bright colours and patterns. Get your summer resort style happening by trying them with a bright kimono or cardigan and metallic slides.
I think the key thing to white jeans is to start by incorporating the jeans into an outfit you’re comfortable in (for me, the long vest and ankle boots was my comfort zone) and then try small changes from there. Add heels or try flats. Wear a blazer or add a scarf. The more you play around, the more options you’ll discover.
And Napisan works wonders if required.
So what do you think about white jeans? Do you have a pair? What’s your favourite way to wear them?
