After the most terrible week of weather, it looks like Spring has finally arrived in Sydney this week. They’re even predicting over 30 degrees for this coming Sunday. During the wet weather spell I also had the added bonus of two sick kids. Today is the first day both my boys have gone to preschool together in 10 days! So the warm weather, the return to a healthy household and the upcoming long weekend are really lifting my spirits.
I am definitely ready to start wearing some Spring clothes especially some bright colours!! One of the colours making a glorious appearance this season is citrus yellow. A seriously fun and happy colour that I love to wear. Here are two ways to incorporate this tone into your Spring and Summer repertoire.
A citrus print dress
This is the Scribble dress by Philosophy Australia. The aptly named print features black, white, blue, yellow and turquoise – a lovely combination for Spring. It’s also easy to accessorise by selecting a colour from the print. I’ve gone with black heels and turquoise earrings but many other combinations would work.
The dress itself is the perfect combination of stretch and structure. The flattering design features wider sleeves to cover a little more shoulder and a gathered front panel to miraculously smooth the tummy and narrow the waist. The length is perfect for any occasion from lunch to dinner to work.
I then added a blazer and again, I was spoilt for choice as so many colours would work if you needed to add an extra layer. You could dress this up even more with a structured black jacket and some sparkly accessories or you could even wear this dress with some white slides for a more casual look.
Citrus and chambray
This is the Drax top by Philosophy Australia. You may have noticed it my post Outfit Ideas for a Conference. I have worn this top a lot already with both jeans and black pants so it was fun to style it with a pair of chambray shorts for a more summery feel. Citrus and chambray go together so well. I also love the contrast of the rougher chambray texture against the smoothness of this top.
With its batwing sleeves and flowy style, the top would still keep you cool on a warm day. I’ve worn a white singlet top underneath which works well for cooler temps. Finally, a little gold bling in the form of earrings and slides gives this outfit a bit of resort factor
