While winter is all about snuggling up under a blanket on the lounge watching Game of Thrones and enjoying slow cooked casseroles and warm chocolate desserts, there just might come a time when you actually want to leave the house at night despite the cold!
It might be for a friend’s birthday, a date night or even a work event. Dressing for a night out in winter is a great opportunity to get out of your everyday jeans and into something special (including those sparkly earrings you got for your 21st or 30th that you never wear!).
Here I’m sharing two outfits by Philosophy Australia which would work for both casual nights out and more dressy occasions.
1. A Bright Winter Dress
The Miriel dress is the perfect combination of flattering fit, modern style and eye catching print! Why wear all black when you can wear colourful prints like this?! The wrap style is extremely comfortable, the front ruching slims the waist and the slinky jersey fabric (a polyester/spandex blend) gives a lovely smooth look.
For those of you that hate hand washing, this is a great fabric for easy wear and easy care as it has stretch and can be machine washed and requires no ironing (major bonus!).
There are so many gorgeous colours to work with if you like matching your jewellery – I’m wearing turquoise earrings which pick up on the blue in the dress. Black tights and ankle boots keep this outfit smart but you could go all out with some special heels or stilettos.
This is a great desk to dinner option too as the jersey fabric remains in shape all day and won’t crease so you can look as great at the end of the night as you did when you first put it on in the morning.
And just in case you need another option, this dress is also perfect to wear to a winter wedding. For more warmth, you could add a black coat, a beige trench or even a faux fur vest. You could also layer by adding a tank underneath for extra modesty/warmth.
2. Tunic and Leggings
This is the Alita tunic in the exclusive horizon print. I loooove the tones in this tunic. Perfect for layering with black, white or grey and it feels like I’m wearing an artwork of the ocean! I’m also wearing the Dance Pant which are a super smooth legging with a really comfortable waist. The double thickness of the tunic gives a lovely smooth finish and it’s also nice and warm. The assymetrical edge of the tunic adds another feature which I love and the length is absolutely perfect for wearing with leggings i.e. big tick for bum coverage.
Now if you think you might need another layer on a chilly evening, why not add some sequins
Don’t save all your sparkles and sequins for special occasions, wear them whenever you get the chance!
What do you wear for a night out during winter? Are you a winter dress fan? Or do you prefer pants and leggings?
