It’s about this time of year when the idea of winter clothes becomes quite appealing. If you’re like me, it’s easy to get a bit carried away with the new colours, cosy knits and fabulous scarves starting to appear in all the shops. I’m taking an organised approach to my winter wardrobe this year by following these steps:
1. Audit existing wardrobe: I’m reviewing the current state of my winter clothes and am culling the out of shape pilling jumpers from five years ago, the white long sleeved tops which are now a dull shade of grey and that striped dress that shrunk two sizes in a washing machine incident last winter.
2. Updating my essentials: I’m making a list of the key pieces I think I’ll get the most wear out of for both work and mum duty. These include a white shirt, dark jeggings, trench coat, black leggings and today’s item of the moment – the short sleeved knit.
3. Add a few new season beauties: I have a few gift cards from my birthday which I am planning to use on a few special items like a new tan handbag and perhaps a colourful cape / poncho.
Today is all about getting the essentials sorted. This is part 2 in the Essential Series. Part 1 was all about the white shirt. You can read about my ideas on 3 casual ways to wear a white shirt.
So next up is the amazing and fabulous short sleeved knit. I’ve always been a fan of this style. You can keep nice and snug around your body without your sleeves getting bulky or your wrists feeling constricted – very annoying. The short sleeved knit works well under a coat and it can be worn for any occasion. Here I’ve styled a grey Country Road knit two ways to show its versatility.
Wearing knit jumper from Country Road (I think this style has sold out but there are many similar ones available), long sleeved top by Gap, jeans by Target, Musical white croc by Zensu Shoes, necklace by Colette Hayman.
Dressy / worky:
Wearing Country Road knit jumper, pants by Marcs, shirt by Country Road, shoes by Wittner, earrings by Lovisa.
Important note: I bought the above pants and shoes in the Boxing Day sales for more than 50% off. Now that summer is over, it’s a great time to key an eye out for sales on great summer pieces for next year.
Here are some current short sleeved knit options to consider:
1. Cotton molded zip knit $99.95 by Country Road; 2. Maygar sleeve top $99.95 by Country Road; 3. Tabard pigtail jumper $40 by Target; 4. Bow detail knit top $40 by Target; 5. Tee in structured knit $55 by ASOS; 6. Cable stitch wool knit $149 by Trenery; 7. Twist yarn jumper $49 by Target; 8. Neutral colour block pullover $62.97 by Sussan.
So what do you think? Would you add this style to your winter wardrobe?
