If you told me 12 months ago that I’d be wearing skinny camo pants as part of my spring wardrobe in 2014 I’d have laughed and said “do you know me??” There’s not a rock chick, camo print, toughluxe (is that a style) bone in my body. Or so I thought.
The last 6 months has seen my style evolve rather a lot. I’ve participated in style challenges and shared my photos with the Instagram world. I’ve worn snake print, have clashed patterns and tried new lipstick colours that would make Katy Perry proud. Where has the girl in the jeans and pastel blue cardi gone? Then it came to me and as dorky as a team building workshop outcome it sounds… My style hasn’t changed that much, I’m just more confident in trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone. And how liberating this is!!
I still love pastels and classic style pieces however, I’m having quite a lot of fun and getting a lot more wear out of a broader section of my wardrobe. So in the spirit of trying new things, I’m participating in the “Style It Project” during August. I purchased the Mix Apparel skinny camo pants for just $29 and now I’m sharing three ideas for wearing them. I’m also sharing my first efforts with a timer app on my iphone….some of the out-takes I deleted were hilarious!
Style 1: A trip to the shops – just a basic semi cropped Witchery top with a Sportsgirl bag and Target shoes. Also added some gold Witchery hoop earrings to match the gold detail on the shoes. So fancy.
Style 2: Smart casual – not straying too far from my comfort zone here. Sussan long sleeved top with French Connection knit (includes fun leather panels) and Wicthery shoes. Necklace is my favourite one by The Formed Design Co.
Style 3: A little bit special – So I never thought I’d wear camo pants but who knew they would match my Gap metallic top! Jacket is Jeanswest and shoes are Sandler wedges from about 3 years ago.
I bought the pants in a size 8 and they’re super comfy and lightweight so will be great for spring and these last few weeks of winter with a jumper.
I might make all the Fridays in August “camo pants day”. Stay tuned for more ideas. Do you wear camo? Any other non-pastel trends you recommend I try ?
